NEW CHICKEN HOUSE
This summer, we built a new chicken house at the home. There are now about 25 chickens housed in the 144 square meter house, which will provide eggs for the children. The kids are learning how to care for their new neighbours. They are responsible for collecting the eggs, for feeding and watering the birds and for cleaning the house. This project has been a good learning project and provides food for the home.
THE GARDENS
This summer has been a wonderful growing season and the gardens have been successful. The children prepared the soils in the spring for planting potatoes, tomatoes, onions, radishes, beans, cabbage and turnips. The kids have kept the garden well-watered and cultivated and have been happy with their results. The harvesting has begun and the children are enjoying their garden ingredients in many of their meals.

NEW WELL
With thanks to the organizations Colour4Kids, we now have a new deep well on the property. The 65 meter well was dug in August and the well can provide lots of water for the children’s needs. This fall, we plan to have a piping installed to deliver water directly to the kitchen. Water will also be used for a new bathroom we hope to add next year.

HOLIDAY
This summer the kids enjoyed a nice summer vacation. They did some school home work that was assigned to them for the summer and worked in the garden. They have learned team work and cooperation by working together. They have also been learning cooking skills. The children enjoyed a circus skills workshop presented by Save The Children as well as a friendly games competition with children of this organization. Also, ten of the kids joined the local Taek-won-do club of Boldsaikhan. All the kids hope to go to summer camp this week to continue building their friendships.
